For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.’ Hebrew 4:12-13.
The unfolding of God’s word brings light and gives understanding to the simple. You need this light to live in this dark world.
In Ps 119: 11-12, The Psalmist said:
Your word I have hidden in my heart. That I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, Oh Lord! teach me Your statutes.
Only the word can help you live godly. It gives prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. The word is sharper than a sword. At the Abattoir, the butcher’s sword is very sharp. He makes sure that He strikes only once to have the animal slaughtered. So is the word of God.
Hebrew 4:12 says:
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
You will bear with me that children do not use sharper objects. This is because, they will hurt themselves. Many people get hurt when they hear the word of God. These include prominent men like doctors, judges, lawyers and people of high social reputation. These men seem to be matured according to social regard, but are babies when it comes to the things of the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 1:17-19
For Christ did not send me to baptise, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross of foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is power of God. For it is written ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
The gospel comprises of the birth of Christ, the work of Christ; miracles of Christ; the death of Christ; the resurrection of Christ; the ascension of Christ and the second coming of Christ. If this gospel is foolishness to anyone, it simple means he or she is perishing. When such people see one praying or holding the Bible, they get annoyed. But young man, the fact that you have travelled overseas does not put you above the word of God.
Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”; while the sun and the light, the moon and the stars are not darkened, and the clouds do not return after the rain; in the day when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men bow down; when the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look through the windows grow dim.
Those that look through the windows are your eyes; the keepers of the house are your hand; the strong men are your shoulders and the grinders are you teeth. Although these body parts are active and strong at the time of you youthfulness; a day is coming in which they will be disabled. So, these youthful days is when God needs you, not when you have lost it all.
“God and His word are one. So when you reject the word of God, You reject God Himself”
The fact that you are so prominent in society does not mean you do not need God and His word. Your education cannot save you. The gospel of Christ is the power of God; that is what you need to save yourself. Hence, revere the word of God (the gospel) more than the decrees of any earthly government.
The fact that anyone does not believe the word of God does not make it void or of none effect. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 says
But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
Paul said, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also foe the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17
So, though i respect the words of authority, I highly regard the word of God above everyone else. If the president issues any law which is contrary to the word of God, i will never comply. Similarly, if a king has no regard for God and His word, I cannot also regard him and obey his decrees.
The fact that one has rejected Christ means he is perishing. David said; Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Ps 119:11. There is no way one can live right without the word of God. Consequently, whoever is against the word of God dabbles in sin and has his eyes blinded by the god of the world. Many preachers have also veered off unto the path of blindness hence, they endorse polygamy, illicit dressing, sexual immorality, etc.
Dear one, consider the days you went all-out for Christ and was mindful of your dressing and appearance. Along the way, who deceived you that Christianity is in the heart hence, you can dress anyhow? Have you forgotten that Scriptures says, the works of the sinful nature are evident, which are:
adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outburst of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in the past, that those who practise such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passion and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Gal. 5:19-25
So, forget about your professionalism, efficacy and possessions to embrace the gospel, which is the ‘heart of God’ and the ‘mind of God’. Nothing can save you; but Christ. Seek the Lord while He may be found. Everything shows that the world is drawing closer to it’s destructive end.
The reason why most of our leaders are selfish and ungodly is because, they have rejected the wisdom of God – Christ. Nicodemus was of a high social repute but when he met Christ, he humbled himself. Therefore, humble yourself Honorable President, Lecturer, Doctor, Actor, Police Officer, Parliamentarian and accept Christ in order to have wisdom to rule.
As a king, if you want you want your kingdom to be well established in godliness, pay heed to the word of God which is Jesus Christ, the wisdom of God. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Consider what wisdom says:
By me kings reign, and rulers decree justice. By me prices rules and nobles, and all the judges of the earth. I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me. Riches and honour are with me, enduring riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, and revenue than choice silver. Prov. 8:15-19.
Isa. 44:9 declares that: those who make an image, all of them are useless, and their precious things shall not profit; they are their own witnesses; they neither see nor know, that they may be ashamed.
Idolatry is foolishness. But, it is unfortunate that our leaders have rejected Christ and His Word to follow after idols. How then are they reigning? By idols and foul spirits? Your guess is as good as mine. Idols are not God. Jer. 10:1-5 say:
Hear the word which the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel. Thus says the Lord: “Do not learn the ways of the Gentiles; do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, for the Gentiles are dismayed by them. For the customs of the people are futile; for one cuts a tree from the forest, the work of the hands of a workman, with an ax. They decorate it with silver and gold; they fasten it with nails and hammers so that it will not topple. They are upright, like a palm tree, and they cannot speak; they must be carried, because they cannot go themselves. Do not be afraid of them, for they cannot do any evil, nor van they do any good.”
Oh king, it is foolishness to forsake the word of God to go after idols; for with God dwells knowledge and wisdom to exercise dominion.
Inasmuch as there is none like you, O Lord, (You are great, and your name is great in might), who will not fear You, O King of all nations? For this is your rightful due. For among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is non like You. But they are in altogether dull-hearted and foolish; a wooden idol is a worthless doctrine. Jer 10:6-8.
Outside the country, no one know the name of the idol you so treasure and hence worship. But our God’s name and His word is revered in all the earth. Therefore, turn from idolatry and seek Christ. Jeremiah said, since you have rejected the word of God, where is your wisdom? Christ is all you need. Let His word be your knowledge, wisdom and power for as many that receive Him, and believe Him, He gives them the power to become children of God.
I love to delight myself in the word of God, hence anytime I hear it, I ponder and mediate on it. This is because, it impacts wisdom and instruction for godly living. It helps one to perceive the words of understanding, to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice and equity. It gives prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion – a wise man hears and increase learning and a man of understanding attains wise counsel.
Dear one, endeavor to honour God’s commands and decrees from today before it’s too late. Treasure the word of God above your necessary foo. If you have fallen down (become cold towards the word), rise up, strengthen your knees and gird up your loins. Be active in your church. Forsake all the dead works of the flesh for Jesus loves you and is willing to save you.
